‘Nollywood Is A Global Movement’ – Amaka Igwe

To do justice to the topic ‘The Nollywood paradigm-reflection of an apologetic commercial Nollywood filmmaker’ was ace Nollywood writer, producer and director, Amaka Igwe.
The former lecturer began by chronicling the evolution of the Nigerian movie industry now called Nollywood and identifying the impact of the first Nollywood film on the entire industry. ‘Although there were other movies before then, but the Kenneth Nnebue ‘Living in Bondage’ was a landmark point’, she said.
Igwe also stated that Nollywood today, has become a global movement with recognition and appreciation all over the world and so, the kind of movies we make is sometimes a reflection of the perception that the outside world have of us.
